Outside Herning you will find some of Denmark's most beautiful heath areas. Among other things. Ovstrup Heath, which is a piece of beautiful and unique nature, which hides an exciting bird and animal life. It is one of the country's last original moors, and the area has a large population of deer, fallow deer and birds. Here you can see cranes, ravens, terns and, of course, swans in the winter. 

Pagan's unique flora and fauna.

Ovstrup Hede is a NATURA 2000 area. In other words, a protected area that requires special protection because, on a European scale, it is an important habitat for several vulnerable and endangered species. Ovstrup Hede is considered one of Denmark's largest and most valuable nature areas and is owned by Aage V. Jensen's Nature Foundation. Here you will find both dry heath, wet heath and hammock. Therefore, the heath is carefully cared for to remove invasive species and strengthen the heath's original flora and fauna. , peat pits and bomb holes from World War II.
