Cronhammar's giant sculpture Elia marks the turn of the millennium. But the sculpture is also a manifestation of the willpower and the courage to break new ground that has characterized Herning over the decades. The sculpture is shaped like a hemisphere with a diameter of 60 m, above which rises a spherical skull of 11 m.

With each of the corners of the world as reference points, four flights of stairs intersect, ending in four viewing platforms, which provide visual access partly to the sculpture's 30.000 cubic meter resonant space, partly to the surrounding landscape.
From the bottom of the dish, four steel columns rise to a height of 30 m above ground.
In the center of the pillar square is mounted a fifth "pillar" - a gas burner, which at any time emits a pillar of fire with a height of 8,4 m and with a diameter of 1 m.

Elia
is furthermore constructed so that it is prepared to receive the thunderbolt and in its resonant bell give an answer back to the vault.
