For more than 115.000 – 120.000 years, the Mørup stone has been lying in the field near Snejbjerg. Here it lies like an iceberg, where only part of the stone is visible. 8,6 m long, 4,4 meters wide and 0,5 meters above the ground - but when you consider that the stone goes 3,5 meters underground and weighs a good 500 tonnes, this is Denmark's second largest stone .

The Mørup stone is a so-called Larvikite that "migrated" to Denmark during the penultimate ice age. Larvikite is a coarse-grained rock found only in southern Norway west of the Oslofjord. The larvikite is therefore called a guiding block, as it can precisely lead us back to where the ice once came from.
