The Textile Museum

Distance: 1.93 Km

The textile industry has shaped the central Jutland area like no other industry - and still does so today. At the Textile Museum, both young and old get an insight into an industry which, over time, has given people all over the world clothes for their bodies - and identity and development for Central Jutland.

Textile boom, children's factory and running machines

While most clothing today is made on the other side of the globe, it is not long ago that Central Jutland was the center of extensive textile production. The exhibition Made in Midtjylland shows how textile production exploded in the 1950s, created jobs and growth and made Central Jutland boom and then go world wide.

In the old Wet Appraisal, the little ones can get a job at Børnefabrikken.

If you come to visit on a Wednesday, you can experience the sounds and smells of an old-fashioned textile factory, when our volunteers start up the old machines or sit behind the looms - and you can get a story along the way, from those who were there themselves, when it all really went awry.

Café & shop

In the museum shop you can buy delicious textiles, toys, books and much more for both young and old. A large part of the goods are made on the museum's own machines and looms. If you're hungry, you can grab a delicious snack and something hot or cold to drink in our cozy café.

Museum Central Jutland

The textile museum is part of Museum Midtjylland, which consists of four cultural history museums, each of which tells a piece of the history of Central Jutland. Both the one that is several thousand years old. And the one that still lives in memories, people and craftsmanship. So stop by, discover history - and experience a Central Jutland both before, now and tomorrow.
