Birdsong Lake

Distance: 3.89 Km

Fuglsang Sø is 800 meters long, 450 meters wide and 6 meters at its deepest point. The area is an ideal place for long walks, swimming, fishing and water sports such as rowing and windsurfing.

TEMPORARY FISHING BAN IN FUGLSANG LAKE

At times of the year, Fuglsang Sø is not so suitable for swimming in. Especially when the water is warm, there will be a risk of blue-green algae and parasites that can cause swimming itch.

Predatory fish such as perch and pike help to ensure a natural balance in a lake, because they eat the fish such as e.g. shells that have an adverse effect on the condition of lakes.

In other words: predatory fish are beneficial for both lake and swimming quality.

And therefore Herning Municipality is now introducing a temporary fishing ban in Fuglsang Sø.

--------

Herning Municipality is the landowner at Fuglsang Sø. There is free fishing with a fishing rod from the bank of the marked stretch in the period from 1 October to 31 May, with a valid fishing licence: www.fisketegn.dk. You may fish with a boat without an engine when you are more than 50 meters from the shore.

Fishing license

Minimum dimensions and closed seasons must be observed. Fish below the minimum size must be released as soon as possible. The pike is protected in April and large pike must be released as far as possible.

See more information at www.fvm.dk

Mandatory fishing license is required: www.fisketegn.dk

Fishing in Herning Municipality

Background history
One late Friday afternoon in the year 2000, two employees from Herning Municipality sat down and had a four-night beer. In front of them lay a map with drawings of a large artificial lake to be excavated.
During that Friday afternoon, the two made a sketch for lake, leisure landscape, waterfront and space for 500 homes. Fuglsang Lake was born. The actual excavation took place in the period 2003-2005, and the lake was inaugurated in 2006.
